Inviting for cake cutting not dinner
The reception location holds 100 comfortably. Our guest list is well over that amount.
Is it rude to invite one set of people to the ceremony and reception for the buffet dinner and then invite another group of people for only the cake cutting and drinks.

I read an idea about making a "fake" cake and inserting a real slice to cut in front of everyone. In the other room other cheap cakes are cut and served with the same icing color, etc. This way everyone sees a big beautiful cake but it won't cost a fortune. This would be great because I have to....
