What Style Tuxedos for Black-Tie optional, Summer Evening Wedding

I am getting married in June. We will be having a 4:30pm ceremony and 6:00pm reception. The reception is black-tie optional. I suspect at least half of the guests will be in formalwear.

When ordering tuxedos this weekend, the tuxedo shop told the groom it was appropriate to wear the 3 button tuxedos unbuttoned.
