PAYING FOR YOUR WEDDING CAKE
- You should expect to pay half up front.
- Final payment 2 weeks before the wedding day.
MOST IMPORTANT:
- Be sure to leave your name and phone number where you can be reached in case any questions or problems arise.
- Have the order in writing specifying all charges including delivery if necessary.
- Communicate ANY CHANGES to the chef at least two weeks in advance.
- If you must cancel your wedding notify the bakery or cake decorator as soon as possible.
| GROOM’S CAKE: |
The groom's cake is a long-standing southern tradition; traditionally, a fruit cake or chocolate cake. Legend has it that pieces of the cake were placed in boxes for the unmarried female guests to place under their pillow in hopes that the man they dreamt of would eventually be their husband. Traditionally groom’s cakes were served to the bridesmaids by the groom accompanied by a glass of wine. Another claim states that the groom's cake is to be saved and shared with friends after the honeymoon.
Not all couples elect to have a groom's cake but if you do:
- Design your grooms cake based on your groom's interests; golf ball shapes for gold enthusiasts or green and white football shaped for that die hard Jet's fan! Use your imagination and have fun with it!
- The Bride usually orders the Groom's cake while ordering the wedding cake, usually keeping the design of the cake a secret until the wedding day or the rehearsal dinner.
- Flavor and type of cake is all up to you...use the grooms favorite flavors and fillings and serve at either the Rehearsal Dinner or along with your Wedding Cake at your Reception.

Three Ways to Cut Cake Costs
The wedding cake you've fantasized about can also be the one your wallet says "yes" to. Here are some great ideas for a more affordable - but still gorgeous - wedding cake.
- Get a smaller cake. Show off the beautiful wedding cake for everyone to see, then have a sheet cake of the same flavor cut in the back.
- Make mini cakes. Instead of one large cake, split up the cost and ask your baker to make every guest a cupcake of your favorite flavor instead. Top each with something pretty, and build a 'wedding cake' tower of your fabulous cupcakes.
- Offer a dessert bar. Another great way to offer dessert while having a smaller cake: set up a dessert bar with mini pastries and coffee to offset a piece of wedding cake.
