Christina Aguilera has had a busy few weeks. She got engaged to Matthew Rutler on a romantic holiday around Valentine’s Day! Not surprisingly the singer\u00a0announced the news on Twitter with a photo of her brand-new fiance and giant rock. The statement was simply:\u00a0<\/span>“He asked and I said……”<\/span><\/p>\n

He people\u00a0confirmed the engagement to\u00a0<\/a><\/span>People<\/a>,<\/em>\u00a0telling the magazine, “They’re very much in love and are really excited to take this next step!”\u00a0<\/span>Rutler, is a film producer who has dated Christina for over three years. He asked her to marry him in Hawaii.<\/p>\n

“Matt spent over a year designing the ring with the ring designer to represent their three-year journey together as a couple,” the source said. “He has been planning this for a while and was just waiting for the right time\u2014the ring has been done for months. Every single placement of each stone has a reason and meaning.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Aguilera is already mother to 6-year-old Max, her son from her first marriage to Jordan Bratman. She’s gushed about her son in the past, on\u00a0The Ellen DeGeneres Show<\/em>, saying, “He’s the love of my life, and I adore him. He’s such a character, and he’s so happy and at the end of the day, that’s what’s most important.” We always knew that\u00a0The Voice<\/em>\u00a0judge wanted have another child, and we’re so happy that her dream is coming true!<\/p>\n

With that, we have to wonder how her pregnancy affects her engagement. Aguilera is just the latest in a group of engaged-then-pregnant celebs, including\u00a0Olivia Wilde\u00a0and\u00a0Ginnifer Goodwin. All three of these expectant brides-to-be seem to be waiting to get married until after they give birth, and we’re betting Aguilera will follow suit.<\/p>\n
