Wouldn\u2019t you feel more welcome if the invitation didn\u2019t include \u201cand guest\u201d for your name?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2026include the bride\u2019s name first. Always.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2026write out times, dates and years (e.g. five o\u2019clock, September ninth). The year does not include the word \u201cand\u201d (e.g. two thousand fourteen).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2026use the phrase \u201chalf after\u201d when referencing time versus \u201chalf past\u201d or \u201cfive-thirty.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2026capitalize the day of the week and month. The year is not capitalized.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2026include the phrase \u201crequest the honour of your presence\u201d if the ceremony is taking place in a house of worship. Otherwise, use the phrase \u201crequest the pleasure of your company.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Don\u2019t\u2026<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2026include the bride\u2019s last name if she has the same surname as her parents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2026use periods at the end of a line.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2026capitalize the first letter of each line unless it is a proper noun (e.g. day of the week, names, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2026abbreviate cities, states and numbered streets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2026mention &#8220;and family.\u201d Write out all the names of the people you want to attend.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2026accompany your wedding invitations with gift registry information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2026include details on attire. If necessary, &#8220;Black tie&#8221; may be written in the lower right corner on a reception invitation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2026address invitations with labels.
