In our third annual <\/span>International <\/span>Wedding Trends Report<\/span>, we asked <\/span>over 50 industry experts to share with us their predictions for all things weddings in 2017. They certainly gave us some exciting things to watch for!<\/span><\/p>\n

Flowers, Color and <\/span>Design<\/span><\/h3>\n

According to celebrity designer and planner David <\/span>Tutera<\/span>, <\/span>“Floral for 2017 is going the modern industrial route. We\u2019re taking this year\u2019s trends like <\/span>metallics<\/span>, and softening them with clean white, creams and ivory tones paired with natural elements and geometric accents.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

That focus on natural elements is reflected in Pantone\u2019s Color of the Year, \u201cGreenery\u201d. <\/span>Youngsong<\/span> Martin of Wildflower Linens <\/span>indicates<\/span> that Greenery, <\/span>\u201chas always been a popular color, especially in summer, but we’re now seeing more <\/span>enquiries from brides who want \u2018greenery\u2019<\/span> color schemes and patterns, especially whites with green accents.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Abundant Minimalism<\/span><\/h3>\n

Eddie <\/span>Zaratsian<\/span> of <\/span>Eddi<\/span>e <\/span>Zaratsian<\/span> Lifestyle and Design <\/span>anticipates<\/span> trends similar to <\/span>Tute<\/span>ra<\/span> and Martin. \u201cI’m noticing that clients and styles are leaning toward more modern and cleaner looks.\u201d He sees couples <\/span>pairing the contrasting concepts of abundance with minima<\/span>lism. \u201cFor example, in New York style, a person can live <\/span>in an elaborate and ornate pent<\/span>house, but their wedding can be simplistic, modern and gorgeous at the same time,\u201d says <\/span>Zaratsian<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Opulent Simplicity<\/span><\/h3>\n

Jes<\/span> Gordon<\/span> of <\/span>jesGORDON<\/span>\/<\/span>properFUN<\/span>!<\/span> calls this movement, \u201cOpulent Simplicity.\u201d More than just a design trend, she has found it spills over into venue selection as well<\/span>, \u201c<\/span>such as buying out a ranch for a weekend somewhere fabulous most of their guests have never been before.\u201d Gordon\u2019s couples \u201cwant something that is warm and inviting but also elegant, and something that they want their guests to be organically impressed by.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Also highly popular in venues this year are \u201copen\u201d spaces like factories and warehouses that can be transformed using flower walls, hanging d\u00e9cor and other custom installations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Service Styles and Menus<\/span><\/h3>\n

AOO Events\u2019 David Merrell predicts that family tables, which he calls, \u201cRoyal Tables\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n

along with family-style service will be big in 2017. According to Merrell, they are a <\/span>great way for guests to <\/span>\u201cget to know each other as the<\/span>y share food in<\/span> an environment conducive to conversation<\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Couples wi<\/span>ll treat \u201ctheir guests to a fine<\/span> dining experience during the wedding,\u201d<\/span> says Brooke Keegan of Brooke Keegan Special Events<\/span>. \u201cWine pair<\/span>ings,\u201d where chefs and couples collaborate to recommend specific wines to accompany each course, \u201care becoming very popular,\u201d continues Keegan.<\/span><\/p>\n

Photography and Technology<\/span><\/h3>\n

\u201cThere is a lot of change in <\/span>this area,\u201d says Mik<\/span>e <\/span>Busada<\/span> of Mike B Photography<\/span>. \u201cPhoto filters are decreasing in popularity, and our clients are now looking for very natural photos without a lot of post processing.\u201d In contrast to a demand for more natural photographs, <\/span>Busada\u2019s<\/span> cli<\/span>ents are also increasingly asking<\/span> for the use of advanced technology, like drone photography. \u201cWe offer drones for weddings where it\u2019s appropriate, but we do caution our clients that drones can be both noisy and distracting when used at the wrong times.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

2017 offers couples everything from classic simple elegance to state of the art, cutting edge technology \u2013 and sometimes both at once. We are certainly excited to watch how these hot trends unfold!<\/span><\/p>\n
