Today, it is considered acceptable to include cards from the department store where they are registered in their shower invitation. 2. How can I ask for money instead of a gift?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Actually, there is NO way of wording the asking of money for wedding\u00a0gifts in lieu of something else without being tacky. The only thing\u00a0you can do is tell your friends and relatives your preference. Then,\u00a0when others ask, your family and friends can say that you would \u00a0prefer money because you are \u2026 (i.e. saving for a house, etc.).<\/p>\n

Then, guests can do whatever they like. If they take the hint \u2013\u00a0GREAT \u2013 but if they don\u2019t, accept the gift with a gracious thank you!<\/p>\n

3. How can I let people know that I don\u2019t want children\u00a0at the wedding?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The only thing you can do is NOT include the children\u2019s names on\u00a0the invitations. However, you\u2019ll find that some people will still
\nbring their children.So you might want to be prepared with a \u201ckids\u00a0table\u201d that includes crayons, coloring books, and candy. Some
\neven hire a babysitter to look after the children at the \u201ckids table\u201d. Some brides are now having \u201cadult only\u201d printed\u00a0on their invitations but again, even at that, some people ignore\u00a0the printing and assume \u201ctheir children\u201d are, of course,\u00a0invited.<\/p>\n

4. Who Pays for What? <\/strong><\/p>\n

A growing trend today is for wedding expenses to be shared among\u00a0the bride\u2019s family, the bride and groom and the groom\u2019s family.<\/p>\n

5. How many invited guests should I expect will actually\u00a0attend my wedding? <\/strong><\/p>\n

The general rule of thumb is if you\u2019re having over 200 guests,\u00a0then you can estimate that about 25-28% of your guests will be unable\u00a0to attend. If you are having less 200 guests, then the percentage\u00a0usually decreases to about 15-20% or less. Other factors include\u00a0how many guests you invite that live out-of-town and the travel\u00a0distance required to attend the wedding. Remember, every family\u00a0(and guest list is different) \u2013 so always be prepared in case EVERYONE\u00a0is able to come!<\/p>\n

Your caterer or reception site serving the food will include their\u00a0gratuities with your bill. So, a tip is not necessarily expected. As\u00a0for your other vendors (wedding consultant, band or DJ, limo driver,\u00a0photographer), again a tip is not required. However, if you feel\u00a0a vendor went \u201cabove and beyond the call of duty\u201d, then\u00a0feel free to provide them with an extra tip. If you are concerned\u00a0whether or not a vendor is \u201cexpecting\u201d a tip, then discuss\u00a0it with them.<\/p>\n

10. What fee should I pay my clergy? <\/strong><\/p>\n

This can be a tough one\u2026 most clergy do not have a \u201cfee\u201d\u00a0but instead ask for a donation. In this case, anywhere from $50\u00a0\u2013 $100 or more. A lot depends on how well you know them and whether\u00a0or not counseling sessions were involved. If you are still unsure\u00a0what the appropriate amount should be \u2013 then talk to the church\u00a0secretary and ask for an \u201cacceptable range\u201d for a donation.<\/p>\n
