Regardless, aim to make the reception a place to \u2018let loose\u2019 \u2026 and let go of any stiffness or ultra-formality you might have seen in the ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>Unique wedding receptions usually begin with an unusual, creative location. A drab and lackluster venue, no matter how well it\u2019s decorated, probably won\u2019t \u2018wow\u2019 your guests. But a unique setting will inspire you to create wonderful ideas, \u2018break out of the box\u2019 \u2026 and create something totally your own.<\/p>\n<p>No matter where you choose to host your reception, there are essential details you need to look after when planning:<\/p>\n<p>1. <strong>Weather \/ Environment <\/strong>\u2014 is the wedding reception inside or out?<\/p>\n<p>2. <strong>Setup <\/strong>\u2014 Is this a non-traditional location? Will it have enough power for the entertainment? Enough parking space for guests? Also consider distance \u2014 most guests don\u2019t want to drive into the deep woods to attend your reception.<\/p>\n<p>3. <strong>Cleanup, setup <\/strong>\u2014 Most \u2018traditional\u2019 wedding reception venues have cleanup in place. Be sure to ask about this when selecting the venue. Otherwise, you may need to draw on family and friends to help with this aspect.<\/p>\n<p>4. <strong>Theme <\/strong>\u2014 Does the location fit the theme you chose for your wedding. Keep in mind, you don\u2019t <em>need <\/em>a wedding theme, but it does help keep things on track.<\/p>\n<p>5. <strong>Wow Value <\/strong>\u2014 Does the location invoke \u2018wows\u2019 from friends? Take a small group of friends there, and ask them what they think.<\/p>\n<h2>Truly Unique Wedding Reception Locations<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Cleared corn fields. <\/strong>Now don\u2019t laugh! I\u2019ve seen a stunning Western wedding theme done up perfectly in a cornfield clearing. Complete with rented gazebos, a fire pit and a country-western band for entertainment, the event went off perfectly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sports Venues. <\/strong>Why not host your reception at your favorite sports venue, if you\u2019re a sports fan? Theme the reception with football, golf or baseball favors.<\/p>\n<p><strong> High Rise Roof. <\/strong>A wedding reception on the top of a city skyscraper can be both exhilarating and memorable, although this might be on the \u2018pricy side\u2019 depending on where you live.<\/p>\n<p>More common wedding reception locations include barns, gardens \/ display gardens, ranches, beaches. Since the wedding reception is only limited by your imagination, take the time to sit down and really brainstorm some great ideas.
