The Master of Ceremonies plays a big role in managing \u201cflow\u201d throughout the wedding. For example, he \u2014 or she \u2014 needs to make sure everyone\u2019s found their place in the receiving line after the wedding,\u00a0ask all the guests to take their seats once everyone\u2019s passed\u00a0through, and introduce the bride and groom as\u00a0they enter the room.<\/p>\n

Speaking Freely<\/h2>\n

Another important duty that falls to the MC: introducing each speaker who\u2019s agreed to present a wedding speech. If you\u2019re the MC, here\u2019s\u00a0your general order for introducing everyone who\u2019ll give a speech or toast:<\/p>\n

First, introduce everyone at the head table to rest of the seated guests.<\/p>\n

Then, introduce the first person will deliver the first\u00a0speech and toast to the Bride and Groom \u2014\u00a0usually an old family friend or relative.<\/p>\n

Now introduce the Groom, who will \u201caccept\u201d\u00a0the previous speech for himself and his bride, then present\u00a0a speech and toast to the Bridesmaids and the Maid of Honor.<\/p>\n

Next, introduce the Best Man who will \u201caccept\u201d\u00a0the speech made by the groom on behalf of the bridesmaids, and make\u00a0his own speech addressing the parent\u2019s of the Bride and Groom. The\u00a0Brides\u2019s father delivers a reply, followed by the Groom\u2019s father.<\/p>\n

Finally, as MC, you offer a short speech and toast to\u00a0any absent family and friends who couldn\u2019t attend the wedding.<\/p>\n

Once the main speeches end, the Master of Ceremonies\u00a0can then open up the floor for any further speeches or toasts\u00a0by the guests (this step is optional \u2014 and not always recommended, especially if guests are tapping their toes in hopes of dinner).<\/p>\n

Along with keeping the speeches in order, the MC should also try\u00a0to keep them brief \u2014 ideally, no more than\u00a03 to 4 minutes each.<\/p>\n
