However, for<\/span> <\/span>many<\/span> <\/span>couples<\/span>, wedding stationery plays a central role in the wedding. So, it\u2019s well worth wrapping your head around wedding stationery and what you need to account for. Here\u2019s everything you need to know about it\u2026 <\/span><\/p>\n

Save the Dates<\/span><\/h2>\n

Save the dates give you a chance to ask your friends and family to save<\/span> the date you\u2019re going to be married on, increasing the likelihood that your nearest and dearest can attend. <\/span><\/p>\n

The design of the save the dates can<\/span> be as simple or <\/span>elaborate<\/span> as you like, but the message will usually say something along the lines of <\/span>\u201cWe\u2019re getting married on 27<\/span>th<\/span> August 2018, please save the date! Invitation to follow\u201d. <\/span><\/p>\n

Wedding Invitations <\/span><\/h2>\n

Wedding invitations are the most important <\/span>element<\/span> of wedding stationery. Not only <\/span>does an invitation<\/span> formally <\/span>request<\/span> <\/span>guests<\/span> to attend your wedding, the design also reflects the<\/span> tone of your wedding –<\/span> whether that\u2019s a marquee in a garden or a black tie event, for example. <\/span><\/p>\n

Take a look online to browse for inspiration regarding what your invitation might look like. <\/span>There are so many ideas out there<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>with lots of illustrators and graphic designers to<\/span> help you to design something truly beautiful! <\/span><\/p>\n

The most important thing to <\/span>remember<\/span>, however, is that the wedding invitation <\/span>actually needs to<\/span> contains lots of component parts. You\u2019ll need the invitation itself, the outer envelope, an unsealed inner envelope (stamped, and pre-written with your address), and an RSVP card. You may also want to include a printed map to help your guests find your wedding venue and reception, as well as details of hotels.<\/span><\/p>\n

RSVP Cards<\/span><\/h2>\n

Part of the wedding invitation, RSVP cards are the things that your guests fill in and post back to you, confirming whether or not they will be able to attend. Again, like the save the dates and invitations, you can personalise these as much as you like to reflect your wedding day and your personality as a couple. <\/span><\/p>\n

At the least, however, just make sure you give <\/span>recipients<\/span> the opt<\/span>ion to outline exactly who is attending<\/span>, whether or not they are bringing a \u2018plus one\u2019, and whether or not they will be attending the wedding ceremony, the reception or both. <\/span><\/p>\n

You can add an extra twist to your RVSPs and make it a little more fun by leaving a blank space for guests to suggest a song they\u2019d like to dance to on the day, for instance. Wedding Programmes<\/span><\/h2>\n

Another piece of stationery to factor in is the wedding programme. <\/span>These are pieces <\/span>of paper<\/span> or booklets<\/span> <\/span>that will be left on seats<\/span> at the ceremony, outlining <\/span>the plan for the day<\/span>. It enables guests to know what\u2019s coming up next, such as readings and songs. <\/span><\/p>\n

Again, <\/span>a wedding programme is<\/span> often stylised like <\/span>an invitation<\/span>, but it\u2019s up to you how much design work you want to do. Some couples have their initials <\/span>printed on the front of the programme, some print a passage of their favourite piece of poetry, a<\/span>nd other couples skip wedding programmes <\/span>altogether. <\/span><\/p>\n

Menus <\/span><\/h2>\n

If you would like to display a menu on each table at your wedding, it\u2019s another piece of \u2018stationery\u2019 you need to account for. It\u2019s nice for guests to sit down to a meal and know what they\u2019re about to be served, and it\u2019s even more helpful if you can list each of the allergens in every dish so that guests who forgot to add their dietary requirements know which dishes they can enjoy. <\/span>Leaving the<\/span> drinks menu at the bar if you\u2019re serving cocktails is another nice touch, too. <\/span><\/p>\n

Place Settings <\/span><\/h2>\n

If you\u2019d like your guests to sit in a particular arrangement, it\u2019s a good idea to put a place card in their seat with the name in it. <\/span>Again, there are lots of<\/span> fun ideas for jazzing up place settings so that they make a design<\/span> statement on the table. <\/span>This design<\/span><\/a> is simple but effective. <\/span><\/p>\n

Last, but certainly not least, thank you notes are an important piece of wedding stationery to invest in.
