I was wondering if I could get some opinions on whether or not these dresses are ok for a renewal ceremony for our 17th anniversary. We are doing a casual luau type party with a quick ceremony at the beginning so I was looking for a ‘destination’ like dress. The dresses come in colors other than white and I was thinking of ivory, champagne, or bronze. Since my parents were not at my wedding, we wanted to do a renewal so we would have memories and pictures and so on. We were going to wait for our 20th anniversary, but they are both in poor health. I wanted to make sure they would be there. <\/p>\n

Since you say your party is informal, I’d say these dresses would be a bit too formal. I’d go for something in a gauzy type fabric or a shorter length sun dress for an informal luau party. <\/p>\n

Thanks for the advice. Question…is chiffon considered a gauzy fabric? Two of the dresses are chiffon and I thought they were gauzy when I tried them on, although they don’t look like it in the picture. <\/p>\n

Honestly, these dresses look like wedding dresses, which should be avoided for vow renewals. These events should never resemble a wedding. The luau setting, though, is a perfect theme for a renewal. It is usually an informal setting.<\/p>\n

Thanks for clarifying that. They are bridesmaid dresses. They are what the people at the bridal shop showed me when I told them what my plan was. I do want to be a little more dressed up than the guests, but not by a lot. <\/p>\n
