My husband and I did a quick and careless elope for our wedding. Now we want to have our Vows Renewed and do to reasons relating to some family members, it will be a bit Wedding like. The whole family knows it is a Renewal though, just giving a few special people a chance to have their dreams.<\/p>\n
We are having a very small, simi-formal to causal, ceremony with a Southern Country theme and a Big Southern Country Mud Blogging reception.<\/p>\n
I am a bit trapped on the cake. I heard it’s ideal to have the first wedding’s cake to be “copied” but the thing is, we didn’t have a cake, we had absolutely NOTHING, just walk in…got married…then went to my doctor appointment (Was 7 months pregnant).<\/p>\n
Is it ideal if I go ahead and get the cake of my dreams to use for the Renewal? <\/p>\n

Most etiquette experts agree that vow renewals should be planned carefully and done for milestone anniversaries or after a particular stressful time in a marriage (as in cases of separation, illness, etc). If you feel as though you have something to be renewed in your marriage then celebrate a renewal, just remember that a renewal isn’t a wedding do-over. The first time a man and woman exchange vows and promise to be married forever is a special time that just can’t be repeated and, in my opinion, could be devalued by trying to recreate that moment. So, in this case, my advice would be to host a renewal – not including any wedding elements that are saved for a wedding. You certainly can have a beautiful cake designed for your renewal party, but it should be a cake for a husband and wife, similar to an anniversary cake. <\/p>\n
Yes, I agree with the reasons for renewal. There is a reason behind us having the renewal other then the eloping. We nearly got a divorce and we been in counseling to improve our relationship. The renewal is a new start for all of us.
\nWe are having the wedding of our dreams but it’s not the same as a traditional wedding. Southern Country is our theme. My dress will not even be a wedding dress (Didnt want a full wedding dress for our original plan). It will be a country western type of dress that my grandmother is making (Colors are white, green and brown), it’s not even floor length. Including brown boots and hat and such. Guys are not even gonna be in tux, Jeans, shirt, vest, hats and boots. It’s all casual but a bit of fun it. Reception is just going to be a big hoedown party. BBQ and Mud bogging is the whole plan.
\nWe just having a bit of fun with our renewal using our original wedding plans. Sand unity ceremony is planned to be used and that is including our children. No bridal party, I will go down with my 3 daughters while my son and my husband waits in front (because we are such a big family), the baby will remain with my mom since he\/she will be too young to be involved (im pregnant now). The only thing I was unsure of is the cake which I did want a 3 tier sheet(square)cakes (My mother is making it) that is covered in camo and “mud” like with 2 John Deere tractors on top (One Pink other is green) with 5 little ATVs scattered through the cake. If that isnt appropriate for a Renewal then I think between me and Mama, we can figure something else out. <\/p>\n
