Look at tens of photos of recipes before going to the confectioner. If you have a particular style in your head, cut the photo, bring samples or use any other resource to transmit exactly the message.
Before you start making the plan read as much as possible about the essence and the butter cream. The essence can take almost any color and it looks just great in applications and different patterns.
Program in due time….
The confectioner has to know your intentions even from months before the wedding. Announce him the date in order to establish the details together. Some of the locations have a catering system; this means that you can ask them if they have a neat confectioner.
A hint: when you speak with the confectioner ask him in some days in advance, usually the wedding cakes, how much is he disposed to respect your budget and if he’s going to work alone or in a crew.
Don’t exaggerate with the décor….
The flowers or other pieces of décor can have a spectacular effect, but use it moderately. Don’t transform everything in a pile of colored flowers, in this way you’re going to avoid transforming it in something kitsch.
Hint: if you choose natural flowers for the décor, use them with buds in shape of hearts, like dahlias, tulips or roses because they’re going to last longer.
Choose special figurines….
Consider your wedding cake as a work of art. You wouldn’t place a Picasso painting in a plastic frame, would you? Then don’t apply for common figurines for the wedding cake, pick some that are going to help you.
Hint: if you don’t like the idea, you can have a wedding cake without figurines, some of them looking even better in their original state.
No matter on what you decide in the end you have to make sure that you end up with something really original and that characterizes you. You have to organize the details in such a manner that you end up with a really interesting wedding cake, which has to surprise your guests and not only!
