Your formal ceremony and atmospheric cocktail hour are done, and now it’s time to kick off the reception party with a dramatic grand entrance. During this grand entrance, your wedding DJ/Emcee will announce the family, bridal party, and newlyweds over music that you select. Upbeat and dramatic music is highly appropriate. In a perfect world, the song would be instrumental so that the Emcee can easily speak over it. However, it’s fine to use music with vocals, as the DJ will turn the down the music level when announcing somebody from the entourage, and then turn up the volume as they walk out.

Maximize the impact of your grand entrance by selecting dramatic music.

The list below is broken down by genre. Upbeat current dance music, along with movie/television themes tend to draw enthusiastic reactions from guests. For bridal party member walking in with a partner, have fun and bust a creative move for the crowd! (you will need to choreograph this in advance). Be sure not to rush, and try to remember to stall for a moment as you come onto the dance floor so that the photographer can snap an awesome photo! Separate songs can be selected for the parents, bridal party and bride and groom. DJs are also capable of highlighting or looping a song, or “mashing up” two songs into a fresh creation. Discuss these ideas at the planning meeting with your DJ!
