Bridal Beauty: 6 Products to Prep Your Skin for Your Wedding Day

On your wedding day, you want to look your absolute best. You are surrounded by friends, family and maybe a few people you don’t know yet and of course your groom. Hundreds of pictures will be taken, all eyes on you. To ensure you are looking and feeling your best, it’s all in the preparation. Investing in a few good products to use in the lead up will ensure you are your glowing self on the day.

Body Scrub

We tend to concentrate more on the skin on our face, rather than our poor bodies. Wedding day, you need to be glowing everywhere! Give your skin a good scrub once a week leading up to the day, and the day before. If you are having a spray tan, use your scrub the day before the tan and not afterward.

Lush is a fun and funky brand with so many beautiful products! Vegetarian-friendly, ethical ingredient sourcing and all products are handmade.

The Rub Rub Rub shower scrub is a hybrid between a scrub and a shower gel. Use it on wet skin for a more gentle scrub or on dry skin for a bit more a punch. It contains fine sea salt for the scrubbing, lemon juice for brightening and a bunch of pretty floral oils giving it a very pretty smell.

Body Oil

A perfect accompaniment to a body scrub is to follow on with lashings of body oil to nourish your skin. Oil leaves your skin supple and glowing, banishing any scaliness or dry patches. It is great for prepping your skin for a spray tan, just don’t use it on the day of the tan as the oil will repel the tan.

A body oil I use religiously is the delicious Pure Fiji Exotic Oil. It is made with all natural ingredients, including cold pressed virgin coconut, macadamia nut, dilo & sikeci oils. These oils replenish, nourish and protect the skin.

The oil feels luxurious, absorbs quickly and comes in 9 different heavenly smells – my favorite is the new zesty Coconut Lime Blossom.

Eye Cream

Weddings can be stressful, lots of things to plan and lots of sleep lost. With a loss of sleep comes dark circles and puffiness around the eyes. To keep this at bay, a good eye cream, gel or serum is recommended. The skin around the eye area is more delicate and requires special products.

I love eye products that have cooling metal tip applicators or roller balls. The award-winning Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Ageing Eye Serum has just that. The cooling tip allows the product to glide on smoothly, cools and soothes the eye area all at once.

This powerful eye serum helps to minimize the appearance of fine lines, uneven skin tone and dark circles while de-puffing the eye area.

Face Exfoliant

Exfoliation is the absolutely key to achieving glowing, smooth and bright skin. Your skin can look dull with many layers of dead skin cells all piling up on top of each other, you need to slough these off with a good exfoliant. Exfoliation also allows your other products to penetrate deeper into the skin so you can reap all the benefits from those products too.

One of my favorite exfoliants is the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant. Not only my favorite but many people’s favorite by the looks of things… this being Dermalogica’s number 1 selling product in the entire world.

It is a gentle, daily-use exfoliating powder that activates upon contact with water. Enzymes and salicylic acid buff away dead skin cells to reveal brighter and smoother skin instantly.

Lip Balm

You’re going to be puckering up lots on the big day, so smooth supple lips are a must! Gently exfoliate your lips with a wet toothbrush to remove dead skin a few times a week and layer on your lip balm.

Burt’s Bees lip balms are excellent. 100% natural ingredients, contains a bunch of nourishing oils and beeswax to soften and moisturize your lips. My favorite is the pomegranate balm, tastes and smells delicious and has just a hint of color.

Face Mask

Concerned with dryness, oiliness, sensitivity, dehydration, breakouts, aging or just your skins looking a bit dull and lifeless? There’s a face mask to suit every skin type and condition! Doing an at-home face mask 1-2 times a week leading up to the wedding will get your skin in tip-top shape. Dry skin – try a creamy mask. Oily skin – look for a clay-based setting mask to absorb those oils.

A cult favorite is the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Concentrated Recovery PowerFoil Mask. Suitable for all skin types, this mask will firm, brighten and deeply moisturize your skin. With a foil backing, you will be looking like Iron Man wearing it for 20-30 minutes, but with all the amazing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid (the most amazing hydrating ingredient), your skin will be plump and bright.
