2. Take a Peek at the Calendar:
Will you be leaving right after the wedding or the weekend after? Check with work and other pending engagements before you start looking at cruises and air tickets.
3. Consider the season:
Take into account the season when you book your trip. For example, you may not want to go to the most harsh on climates and not be able to participate and see the best parts of that area.
4. Go for it:
This is your chance to take that dream vacation. From a European adventure to the most tropical island paradise, don’t be afraid to branch out a bit in your plans. Do enough research in advance but don’t sell yourself short on your biggest trip yet.
5. Look for activities:
Don’t assume that you’ll be locked in the honeymoon suite 24/7. At some point in time you will want to get out and play! Fun activities, great places to eat and incredible entertainment are all key elements for a great vacation.
6. Shop for essentials:
This is the one trip that you don’t want to forget things. Plan honeymoon outfits and essentials well in advance as to not forget anything too important while you’re away.
7. Plan a memory:
Maybe a bouquet of flowers waiting in the suite or a massage on the last day of the trip, surprise your new bride or groom with a special something. It’ll be a nice memory to include on all of your adventures.
8. Be smart:
From planning your pup’s daycare while you’re gone to booking airline tickets under your maiden name, take precautions when your planning. Don’t get overzealous and forget something as crucial as waiting to do any name changes until you get back!
9. Don’t forget to tell people:
When you check it, when you’re at dinner, when you’re passing people by … tell people it’s your honeymoon! Resorts are known to give happy couples freebies and special upgrades, use that to your advantage. It’s the only time you’ll every get a chance to!
10. Utilize your travel agent:
Even if you like holding the reigns when it comes to planning, let alone your travel plans, in this circumstance, use them. My husband and I got a free photo package worth well over $200 just for booking with her! It was worth the extra trip to see her and we got a small discount on our overall trip!
