Reception Only

I am having a private wedding but a huge wedding reception.

I want the invitation to be fun.

However, I feel all the wording that they give you is just to stuffy.

My parents and his parents would like you to join…BLAH BLAH BLAH. However, my mother is old fashion.

Does anyone have any ideas for fun reception only invitation wording?

Dear Reception Only,

If your reception is informal, the invitation can be informal and fun. Your invitations could even be handwritten. Plus, if you are hosting (paying for) your reception, you can word the invitations any way you wish. If your mother is hosting, it really is best if she has her way since this means that she is supposed to be issuing these.

formal invitation to a reception only looks like this:

The pleasure of your company

is requested at the

wedding reception of

Bride

and

Mr. Groom

Date
Time

Location

An informal invitation could be written in any form. This is just one example:

Come join us in an evening of fun

to celebrate the marriage

of You and Him…

If your mother wants something more traditional and this is informal, you could just add your parent’s names and say something like:

Mrs. and Mr. Your Parents

invite you to

join us in an evening of fun

to celebrate the marriage

of You and Him…

Your invitations just need to have the who, what, when, and where.

Best wishes,

Consider spending just a few dollars and have a characterization of your images (cartoon) to include the two of you having fun at a favorite hobby (tennis, swimming, hiking, etc.), then place the image on your wedding invitation. Not only would it be original, but fun and memorable. There are several companies out there that will do the service from your photo. Or you can do your own images using certain software programs. Some of the programs, such as Goo Software, renders hilarious images. Have fun!
