As you can see, the first step in a wedding planning that we encourage you to take is to think. You are just at the beginning of this tremendous adventure, so since you don’t have anything concrete, yet you would better grab on to something abstract, that you may later turn into reality. In other words, your thoughts are very valuable, because they are considered the starting point of the planning of this important event.

However, because you have done the thinking in the first place, it doesn’t mean that you will cease to do so, later on. On the contrary, every single detail that you will pick during the preparations of your wedding will imply a lot of thoughts, decisions and compromises to make.

After you have announced your engagement, one shall not rush to mention a precise wedding date. In general, the planning of a wedding could take between nine to eighteen months. So, as far your engagement goes you could have this status for even a year and a half. Anyway, remember that there is no reason why you will have to do things in a hurry. Everybody knows that this process takes a lot of time, so everyone will be patient.

Because, we have mentioned previously that in this article we will focus only on the thinking part, let’s give you a hint of what you will have to work your mind on. The location is very important, since it will create the décor of your nuptials. Your wedding budget is another crucial thing, since all your plans depend on it. Also, the wedding date is something that will give you a lot to think of. This point leads to your wedding invitations, which must be sent to your wedding attendants at least three or four months before the actual wedding.

At some point you will feel that the planning of your wedding is too much for the two of you to handle. This means that you will have to contact and hire a wedding planner that will offer you all the support you require. Under the guidance of this person you will start shopping the most important wedding items. Oh, and let’s not forget about the honor titles of best man and maid of honor: announce your best friends that you have picked them to play an important role at your wedding. You think that you are almost done? Well you certainly are. At this point you will just have to plan and to settle the last details. And, now that you are done, you will just have to relax, in order to have the perfect condition ever for your wedding ceremony.

At the thinking part, ladies usually like to envision their wedding day. They think about the wedding theme, colors, trends, traditions, the first dance, and so on. However, if it is hard for you to picture everything, you should arrange some meetings with your friends and female relatives that you are close to, in order to talk about the most important points in a wedding. You will see that talking will help you a lot, because thus you will be able to become aware of details that were unknown to you. Having such meetings with “experienced ladies”, i.e. women that already got married will make you relax and think about this upcoming event as something really nice and beautiful.

But, you should not exclude your groom to be from this “envisioning part”. When you can catch a break, ask for his opinions too, in order to see if you are on the same page. After all, he plays an important role in this event, so his ideas matter a lot. If you will include him too in the planning process, it will be easier for you. Why? Well, you will acknowledge that you are not alone in this matrimony and that you will get a lot of support in your married life. It is very reassuring to see that the man you have decided to spend your life with would like to get involved in these plans.

However, if his part is totally different, for instance if he is the one who will have to come up with the wedding money; you will have to give him a rest and to let him focus on his part. Even if you will organize your wedding ceremony on your own, with a wedding planner or with some family members, it doesn’t mean that he hasn’t contributed at all. This criterion is very important in a wedding, so you would better ask his opinions only for the most important things.

Another matter that you will have to think about is the wedding stress. As you well know, planning something very important will make you feel stressed out, irritated and nervous. However, you will have to come up with a plan that will help you calm down and that will make you realize that being engaged is really awesome. In fact, this is quite a nice period, so you will have to live only the best moments of it. So, when you feel that you are about to loose your temper, try to go to a happy place that will make you realize that things are not that bad. Or, on the contrary if it is better for you to shout, then do so, in order to be able to carry on with your plans. Just, do whatever works best for you!
