Do Groomsmen Pay for the Bachelor Party?

My best friend is getting married, and as the best man, I know that it is my responsibility to organize the bachelor party. We are planning to go to the city for the party and stay in a hotel. I know that I am taking care of his room at the hotel, but am I obligated to pay for the rest of the people that are attending or are they obligated to make their own reservations and pay for their rooms??? If they are supposed to pay, what would be the best way to tell them, without offending anyone??? Thanks for any help!!

The first thing you should know is that this is an optional party and you are not obligated to plan this event. But, if you choose to plan a bachelor party, you should get together with the rst of the men, including the other groomsmen, and plan it together. Everyone should agree on the plans and share the cost.

I completely agree. This is the one party, besides the bachelorette party in which the guests pay their own way.

Basically everyone who attends the bachelor party should contribue to cover the cost of the night. Whether it’s go cart racing, paintball, dinner, strippers etc, the groom does not pay a cent that night. A lot of bachelor parties include the hiring of a limo or bus to take everybody around. Make sure you divide the cost between everyone who attends. It is pretty easy to ensure the groom doesn’t pay for a drink all night, simply take turns getting his order.

Bachelor parties cost money. Whether it is a small dinner with friends or a booze filled weekend in Vegas, everybody needs to contribute. While the best man typically arranges and plans the party, the financial burden should not fall on him alone. If you’re a groomsman helping the groom prepare for his big day, make sure to toss some of your own cash into the bachelor party pot.

Before the bachelor party, the best man should let guests know all the details. Ideally he lets everybody know that they will be splitting the costs. Sometimes it makes sense to either collect money upfront and have the best man handle payments to vendors and clubs on the night. Alternatively, the best man pays for everything and then afterwards gets everybody to pay their share after splitting all the costs.
