These are all great tips! Many hair stylists and makeup artists like to work together and have similar artistic ideas. If you already love your hair stylist, chances are that you’ll love the makeup artist she recommends. 🙂

I recently got married and found myself in this very same situation. I researched online and talked to a bunch of people on the phone, but everyone was really expensive and I had no way of knowing if they were any good.

Eventually I asked the woman who was doing my hair if she knew of anyone, and as it turns out she did! She put me in touch with her friend who does make-up professionally. The make-up lady came over to my house and did a trial run on me. I was really happy with her work and very confident on my wedding day and she did a wonderful job!

Great tips! But I prefer personal referrals, especially from friends whose wedding day make-ups I can say I admire. At least I already have a clear notion as to the kind of work he/she is capable of doing. Also, I suggest to work with someone you feel comfortable talking to. Do not just rely on talent and skill. These will practically be useless if you canot even tell him/her what you really want.
